James Boutique Hotel
After arriving from Portugal when he was young, Jaime Armindo started out his career in football
before moving to the construction sector where he worked for 35 years. Known as James by his
friends, he fell in love with Colmar and Alsace, a fascinating region that offered a wealth of
opportunities.
With his entrepreneurial and enthusiastic spirit, he decided to set himself a new challenge with his
entire family: to create a tasteful hotel where everyone is able to chat and live together as if they
were at home. This was how the 4-star James Boutique Hotel came into being.
Through our different journeys, our family has developed a great sense of hospitality.
We want to accompany our guests as well as possible and adapt our services in order to cater to
their demands to the letter.
For us, attention to detail and the well-being of others are essential.
And it was quite natural for us to choose the swallow, a lucky charm and symbol of hospitality and
loyalty in Portugal, to represent our hotel, your new nest.

A family story

Our rooms
Our available atmospheres
Two colour of atmospheres can be found in all of the rooms. The natural theme works with touches of gold, pastel and nude, while the royal theme also tackles more vivid blue shades. Atmospheres with gentle and sophisticated themes, playing with contrasting materials and colours to offer each room its own personality and tastefully comply with the codes of top-of-the-range hotel services. Here, brass is matched with wood for style and finesse, and a soothing effect.
- CLASSICAL ROOM
Simple and elegant, our six standard rooms offer a surface area of 18 sqm with an extremely comfortable 180x200 double bed.
- SUPERIOR ROOM
Distinguished and spacious, our 18 superior rooms offer a surface area of 21 sqm. They are equipped with very high quality 180x200 beds and it is also possible to install twin beds. Each room offers a small reading/coffee area with an armchair for relaxing and a coffee table.
- LUXE ROOM
Spacious high-end room, 27 sqm. This room is equipped with a bath, a walk-in shower, a separate WC and a bed 180x200. You can relax in the lounge and will also enjoy the view of the rooftops of Colmar thanks to its attic terrace.
- JUNIOR SUITE
Spacious premium Junior Suite - 34 sqm - equipped with a bath, a walk-in shower, a separate WC and a bed 180x200. It also has a lounge and an attic terrace with a view over the roofs of Colmar.
All our rooms have a safe at your disposal, free of charges.
Please note that the James Boutique Hotel **** declines all responsibility in case of theft.
On request, we put at your disposal: a dental set, a shaving set, a lady set, a manicure set and a comb.
Room cleaning service
We kindly inform our guests that our cleaning service is available until 12h30pm.
After this time, it won’t be possible for us to guarantee the room’s tidying.

Because Alsace is a region with a wealth of good quality gastronomic products, the team of the 4-star James Boutique Hotel serves delicious continental buffet breakfasts for you, prepared exclusively with local produce.

Breakfast is served every day from 7.00 am to 10.00 am.

The Bar
You want to relax and enjoy a drink in a welcoming setting? James has thought of everything. Following on from the reception, the bar area is open for you to enjoy a pleasant moment in a private atmosphere.
Settle down in our elegant lounges, havens for sharing, and sample our selection of coffees or teas and even local wines.
A "work" space with computers is also accessible for hotel guests.

The Boutique
Hotel concept
Emerging in New York in the 1980s, the Boutique Hotel's niche market experienced a boom at the end of the 1990s.
It is a subjective concept, without any predefined specifications.
For Americans, "boutique" - a French word - is the opposite of "Malls" (huge shopping centres). For them, a boutique is somewhere small and attractive, that offers a personal service, where customers are known and recognised when they visit.
This is where the notion of "boutique hotel" comes from, that is now used in the hotel trade.
This type of hotel fills the space left unoccupied by the standardisation of large hotel chains. Unlike these, each establishment has its own unique style based on its own specific positioning and personality.
It was Andrée Putman who paved the way for these structures with the Morgans Hotel in New York, an establishment still considered to be legendary and avant garde.
Later, at the start of 2000, Starck and Jacques Garcia developed the concept in France and Europe:
The Mama Shelter for Starck and the Athénée Hotel, the Odéon Hotel, le Fouquet’s, the Costes Hotel for Jacques Garcia and, more recently, the magnificent Hotel de Nell - Paris by Jean-Michel Wilemotte.
The Boutique Hotel aims to be an extension of the guest's lifestyle, which is why the 4-star James Boutique Hotel has drawn its inspiration from this spirited &
responsive concept to design a unique establishment that is free and accessible.
